Faure Gnassingbe is Worse than his Father. Don't Support him!
The German Taxpayer's Money must not be used to Maintain Dictatorship in Togo!
After the death of dictator Gnassingbe Eyadema in February 2005 after 38 years of sole reign on Togo, Faure, imposed by the army, followed his father, thus trampling the constitution under foot, which prescribes in its article 59 that the president of the republic is elected in general, secret and direct ballot for a term of five years.
The national und international protest was severe. Faure gave in to the pressure und elections were organized in April of the same year. Massive fraud accompanied the elections. Altough Faure did not win, he proclaimed himself as winner. The country declined into violence: More than one thousand Togolese were massacred by the army, ten thousands chose the way of exile. Further elections took place in the years 2010 and 2015. Faure turned a deaf ear to constitutional and democratical rules. He clings to power and wants to keep it for lifetime. Demonstrations on the street and the protests of the people are bloodily (violently) surpressed. Journalists are persecuted, arbitrary arrests are taking place, corruption is galoping. The military is holding the land with an iron hand. Since his takeover of the highest office Faure has never respected a single agreement with the whole Togolese political intended to strictly respect the constitution of the 4th Togolese Republic and to ensure the regular functioning of the entire institutions, which are the indispensable conditions for the free democratic game and the political change.
Despite of all said above, Germany wants to give a donation of 44 million Euro to finance projects in Togo which will without any single doubt fill the pockets of the ruling minority.
Therefore the entire Togolese diaspora says:
stop the aids that hardly serve the togolese population!
that German taxpayer's money must not finance Togolese dictatorship!
that Germany must talk the language of truth with the dictator Faure!
that Germany must enforce the pressure on Togolese authorities until they conduct immediate constitutional and institutional reforms in Togo!
Togo ist not a property of the Gnassingés!
Togolese diaspora, stand up for the demand of reforms!
