A Nigerian man died in Switzerland while being deported due to force. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8576085.stm
It happened already Wednesday evening on Zürich airport. They say they cancelled all the special deportation charters. On these charter planes they put those who resisted successfully against earlier deportation attempts, in order not to molest other passengers (or rather, to do it without independent witnesses). The killed one was to be deported together with around a dozen others on such a charter; he had been on hunger strike the days before. Reportedly he was handcuffed and tied up when he suddenly started showing "health problems"; Cops say they immediately opened the shackles as they noticed, but it was too late.
Result is that, for the moment, Switzerland cannot deport people who resist deportation, but only until they find out why he died and how they can avoid such "incidents" in future. It was a big story in Swiss media on Thursday, but no news since then.
