Rex Osa Report on the Nigerian Community in Germany protest against the Embassy Collaboration and Deportation with German Authorities in Berlin
Barely 2 days after activist of The VOICE Refugee Forum spontanously protested the Uganda Country delegation collaboration to deportation hearing held at the Berlin Foreign Office on 12.06.14, the solidarity action extended to the protest action organised by The Concerned Nigerians Kassel in front of the nigerian Embassy on 14.06.12.
This rally which makes the second to have been organised against the misrepresentative and corrupt role of the Nigrerian Embassy within 2 Months signals the obvious and inevitably long overdue patience of Nigerians and even non nigerians.
More than 30 delegate activist from Nigerian ethnic community from kassel and koln, refugee community from Bayern, Baden Wurttemberg,Berlin and antiracist supporters groups were present at the rally with one major Agenda to demand a stop to the Embassys involvement in the corrupt and inhuman deportation hearing.
As protesters arrived, the usual presence of German Police was the order and the embasssys sudden closure to would be visitors without proir notice express the level of incapacity of the officials.
The Officials locked themselves in as they all were seen hanging on the Windows watching and listen to the Protesters.
A lttle after 2Pm attracted the confrontational aspect of the protest as a The VOICE Refugee Forum had to hand over the a demand onbehalf of Refugee Communities in Germany and Antiracist Movement. As the Representative of The Voice Refugee Forum (Rex Osa) together with The Preseident of The Concerned Nigerians kassel (Mr Lewis Ehiwario) approached the Police which they without the usual ….......... accepted although they immidiately called for more police back up as the usual show of Parading themselves.
As the door bell was pushed, 2 Junior staff came up to attend to us but Mr Lewis Enahoro requested that a senior official should be asked to come down to recieve us which the did. After a sort of long waiting that was almost provocking an angry Mob, about 6 Senior Officers led by The Deputy Head Of Mission Mr R. Shehu appeared to address the protesters.
Other Officials who came out Mr J.C Eziaghighala, the successor to Mr Ahmed in the capacity of Consular and Immigration Officer who is directly invoved in this identification excercise, Mr M.I Bashir - Minister and Head of Chancery, Mr M.O Ajala - a Minister at the Embassy and others.
Rex Osa Tendered the Demand and requested a signature from the Officer to confirm reciept which was handled by The Deputy Head of Mission of person Mr R . Shehu.
The core demand was that the fortcoming deportation hearing of the Nigerian Embassy on 18-22 in Münich should be cancelled immidiately as a sign of an open room for discussion on this issue and that failure to meet this demand will Provoke an indefinate Occupation of the Embassy Premises in Berlin.
The Officials aggreed to convey this message but it was also made clear to them that the cancellation of the fortcoming deportation hearing in Münich rest within their Powers in Berlin Office and not the Presidency as they may want to pretend to present it.
We hereby call on more Refugee Community, Migrant communities innitiative, Antiracist Movements and other interested persons to join this our long years campaign against deportation and to be at alert to inform refugees within your regions on the situation at the moment.
Any attempt by the Nigerian Embassy to identify refugees in Münich should be quickly communicated to the different list with an active mobilisation for an occupation of the Embassy in Berlin
