3. Drohende Verhaftung von 3 Personen die die Familie des Ermordeten Grassroot Aktivisten Kem Ley unterstützen
Erneuter Rückschlag für die Zivilgesellschaft in Kambodscha: Drei prominente Regierungskritiker – der Gewerkschaftsführer Moeun Tola, der Mönch But Buntenh sowie der Gründer der einflussreichen NGO CCHR Pa Nguon Teang – wurden vom Amtsgericht Phnom Penh wegen der vermeintlichen Veruntreuung von Spendengeldern angeklagt. Wie so oft wird auch hier ein politisch-motiviertes Verfahren vermutet. Zwei der drei Beschuldigten haben sich bereits ins Ausland abgesetzt. Ob auch Moeun Tola aus Kambodscha geflohen ist, ist bislang noch nicht bestätigt.

Another setback for civil society in Cambodia: Three prominent government critics – the trade union leader Moeun Tola, the monk But Buntenh and the founder of the influential NGO CCHR Pa Nguon Teang – were charged by the district court of Phnom Penh with alleged embezzlement of donations. As is so often the case, a politically motivated procedure is assumed. Two of the three accused have already left the country. Whether Moeun Tola has also escaped from Cambodia has not yet been confirmed.
