Break the Deportation DNA Chain: "RefugeeBlackBox – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" - Beyond the Courtrooms!
Break Deportation - Refugee Black Box Parade:
Nationwide activists of the Refugee-Migrant Community Network together with Anti deportation activists presented and discussed the RefugeeBlackBox agenda and planned for the "Stop deportation" city parade with performance, Installations and discussion on the " Refugee Black Box – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" which took place on the 27/28.01.2017 in Jena
Our main focus of discussion was breaking the deportation chain from within; with discussions on strategies of Break Deportation Acts: Our historical backgrounds and past political struggles against deportation and social exclusion were a guide to our continued engagement for justice and human dignity.
We discussed how we, the refugee-migrant community activists in Germany overcome the different faces of injustice in Europe,
our experiences, the struggles and campaigns of the refugee community against the deportation cultures of the German and European racist nationalism, against social exclusion in Germany. About how we fight against the abuse and violation of our rights, the corruption of the deportation system, societal ignorance including German elites and politicians vis-à-vis human dignity and freedom of movement.

Continuation of the discussions and perspectives on the way forward
"Refugee Black Box – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" is a political experiment and a process to re-create our alternative space and critical enlightenment, through the Refugee Political Solidarity X-Ray on the decades of refugee struggles against the centuries of colonial injustice of deportation.
The concept is a process of inspirations from the refugee struggles
Refugee Black Box actions are planned to expose the ignorance of the society on the abuses and crimes of deportation regimes and to make the colonial injustices of the system visible.
Like Marcus Garvey said, “Never forget that intelligence rules the world and ignorance carries the burden. Therefore, remove yourself as far as possible from ignorance and seek as far as possible to be intelligent”.
Like in a tribunal, it is about charging the system and giving a platform to the afflicted to bring their own charges to public awareness. In addition, it has elements of a festival with its cultural space. The idea parodies the black boxes of air-crafts. It contains sensitive information that is vital to its functionality. The afflicted can submit their charges and these would form the basis of the next protest actions against the pervasive colonial injustice.
Refugees, migrants and anti-deportation activists joined us in the 2017 grassroots struggles of the refugees' community movement, to make “Refugee Black Box – The irrepressible voice and power of the afflicted" a concrete and empowering political solidarity weapon."
"By coming together, we will continue to learn from each other, develop our strength by continued self-empowerment to break the deportation culture and to overcome the different faces of injustice in Europe. Most of us are victims of war. Some of us lost our families; many of us are separated from their children, wives and husbands, while a countless number of us died on the journey to Europe under the watchful eyes of FRONTEX. As a result, many of us remain traumatized today. Yet, instead of being given the necessary therapeutic and other support, we are discriminated against, subjected to brutal and greedy exploitation and exclusion, various forms of psychological torture and expected to gratefully accept our unspoken label of subhuman or „Untermensch“ in the name of refugees because we don‘t have bombs raining on us."
Review on Break Deportation Culture – Deportation is criminal and we fight to stop it! https://thevoiceforum.org/node/4210
Deportation and its corruption of legal systems and regimes are criminal. Stop the deportation system! Fight racist nationalism!
Let's shake things up! - Bring down the deportation regimes! Stop deportations!!!
Refugee Black Box PREPARATORY Agenda
"If you've come to help me, you're wasting your time. But if you've come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." by Lila Watson, Aboriginal educator and activist, Australia.
Who supports or Helps whom? Concrete solidarity is a way of life – beyond humanitarian helpers' activism.
Our community is our defense: Political self-organization without the perspectives of the community of the affected often result to slogans to entertain the mainstream media only, without continuity.
The community makes the difference, use it.
It is worldwide solidarity!

Discussion & Workshops on inputs on „Refugee Black Box“ and Testimonies
The BLACK BOX is an attempt to re-define our struggles and resistance as we go forward in strengthening the grassroots perspectives for concrete solidarity with the oppressed and against the oppressors. RefugeeBlackBox actions are planned to expose the ignorance of the society on the abuses and crimes of deportation regimes and to make the colonial injustices of the system visible. Like in a tribunal, it is about charging the system and giving a platform to the afflicted to bring their own charges to public awareness.
Topics to be reflected:
What is connected to deportation and why? - Do you have any experience with deportation? What was the biggest pain or crime you felt? Where are the roots of deportation? Which forms of oppression you feel are there to prepare and execute deportation? Who are the ones profiting from the deportation? - Who are the accomplices of the deportation? What is the reason or intention of deportation? - How does deportation undermine the natural right of any human being? - What is our natural right? - Who has any natural right to living in this world? and basically to whom does this world belong to? - Why do you have to leave your country? How is the departure from your home, the place you were born and lived connected to deportation back to the same place?
We are going to make our resistance against the german deportation regime visible and we will give voice to one of our main topics: We are fighting for an unconditional right to stay for everyone! Stop deportation now!
The idea of the „parade“: take it to the streets as a powerful, creative and colorful demonstration with music and dancing, shouting, performance interventions, samba-percussion and more.
Our voices are irrepressible: Break the culture of deportation!
Re-counting our experiences. - How do we work together? How do we build our communities? What is new and what do we expect in the continuity of our struggles against deportation with the refugees, for the refugees and by the refugees – Analysing our self-critical evaluation, strategies and contributions on the way forward.
There were cultural Program and Solidarity Live Concerts and Installation performance Conclusions, results and perspectives: No compromise with deportation.

The Voice Refugee Forum: A Network of Refugee Community Initiatives in Germany
The VOICE Refugee Forum is an independent network of political refugee activists. Founded in 1994 in a former camp in Mühlhausen in Thüringen as exile organization (The VOICE Africa Forum), The VOICE nowadays supports and promotes the empowerment of refugees and the self-organization of refugee groups nationwide.
The VOICE Refugee Forum in its history has run various public protests and campaigns for freedom of political prisoners in our home countries, against environmental degradation and exploitation by Western multinational corporations.
We have been organizing in protest against criminalization, racial profiling, police brutality (campaign for Oury Jalloh), discriminatory laws and social exclusion and we defend ourselves against institutional and societal racism.
Central to our political activity has always been the protest against deportation, for the abolition of Residenzpflicht and for the closure of refugee isolation camps in Germany. Our forms of action include protest rallies, vigils, demonstrations, internet activism and public events as the Caravan nationwide tours 1998 – 2007, the Caravan Refugee Congress 2000, the Caravan Festival on Colonial Injustice 2010 (both in Jena) and the Caravan Break Isolation - Refugee Camp 2012 (Erfurt) - examples which also show the close cooperation of The VOICE with the network of the Caravan for the Rights of Refugees and Migrants
Our main goals remain the struggle for equality, justice and human dignity for every refugee in Germany. With a strong affirmation that “We are here because you destroy our countries” we seek to collaborate with groups and initiatives on the basis of solidarity and justice, and we reject any form of paternalism, co-optation and continued colonial injustice. Our emphasis is rooted in the principles of grassroots mobilization and empowerment and inbuilding refugee political communities and networks. We remain opposed to the deadly migration politics by the European and other Western powers, and their brutal border regime and racist practices of oppression and exploitation. Therefore our work is always located in the context of resistance against colonial injustice. http://www.thevoiceforum.org/
The VOICE Refugee Forum – A Network of Refugee Community Initiatives in Germany:
Our goal is aimed to support and organized under principles of self-organization of refugees and their Communities against the Apartheid in isolation camps and ‘Lager’ and to empower the political Networks and struggles in the camps.
The self-determination of the refugees to liberate themselves from institutional racism and discrimination is clearly defined; in order to form a united block against suicidal acts and traumas in Isolation lagers.
We demand solidarity and protest against the collective punishments through the racist persecution of refugees in Germany.
We demand the abolition of the Residence Obligation (Residenzpflicht) and the segregation of refugees in ‘Lager’ and camps and Deportation prisons. We stand for Freedom of movement for all, Stop deportation and all discriminatory laws against refugees. We are united against any form of colonial injustice and social exclusion of refugees and people without rights in Germany.
