Occupation of Nigerian Embassy Berlin
Our support and solidarity goes to The VOICE Refugee Forum and all the other groups who participated at the occupation of Nigerian Embassy, Berlin on 15th October 2012 that was geared towards highlighting the corrupt practices of moving the embassy from city to city to facilitate the deportation of black Africans in Germany.
The Concerned Nigerians e. V and other human rights groups have been complaining about the corrupt practices of moving the embassy from city to city to identify Nigerians and other Africans for deportation. As part of our interest to reinstate the dignity of black Africans in Germany, we have held several meetings since 2005 with the Nigerian embassy, Berlin stressing the need to terminate this corrupt practice, a so called bilateral agreement and policy that reinforces and legitimizes discrimination, instead the embassy continue to aid this dehumanizing practice.
We will continue to oppose this movement of the embassy that targets Africans and people of African Origin for deportation. Our struggle will continue until this draconian German asylum policy designed to further humiliate, discriminate and degrade Africans in Germany is completely eradicated.
We strongly condemn the inappropriate use of force and cruel treatment meted out by the German police on the demonstrators. This action by the police is not unrelated to the perceived threat by the Voice Refugee and Caravan Forum which have been championing the struggle against racial profiling, police brutality and killings of Africans in Germany.
The Nigerian Ambassador, H.E. Abdu Usman Abubakar would have to take full responsibility for the despicable actions of the Police and also for ignoring and allowing the issue of Mobile Consular Hearing to linger on.
Despite the heated protests in front of the Nigerian Embassy Berlin on three consecutive times within four months, the Ambassador, has paid deaf ears to solving these problems.
We hereby reinforce our call for a complete termination of Mobile Consular Hearing and call on Nigerian Embassy to be mobile when it comes to the interest of Nigerians (e.g. Passport processing) in Germany
We will never stop advocating and defending the rights of Nigerians in Germany who are not well represented by the embassy in Berlin and whose rights of existence are being threatened by the German authorities.
To restore the ailing image of Nigeria and dignity of her citizens, we advise the embassy to be more engaging. We cannot afford more embarrassment to our nation by allowing the entrance of our embassy to be occupied by reasonable demonstrators making a genuine and legitimate demand.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, God bless the people of Nigeria
