Protesting Refugees suspend hunger strike
After several talks with minister Öney, representatives of the Ministry of Integration, the head of Stuttgart police, the Ordnungsamt, as well as doctors we decided to suspend the hunger strike, which was going on for 5 days.
The reason for this is that the Ministry and the Landkreis showed their willingness to resume negotiations. We will conduct a conversation with the authorities of Main-Tauber-Kreis and the Minister of Integration.
We criticise that until we and our demands were taken seriously, four people had to be treated in hospital as a result of the hunger strike.
Our demands are not extraordinary, they correspond with our basic human right of dignity, as stated in the first paragraph of the German constitution.
Together we decided to suspend the hunger strike, to give the authorities another chance to meet our demands. We require a meeting amongst equals, which also implies the presence of translators.
If the authorities will not accommodate our demands, we will continue our protest.
We also call upon the German society to show their solidarity, to support our protest and to express their unwillingness to tolerate this ongoing violation of human dignity.
Our demands remain:
1. Abolition of “Sachleistungsprinzip”
2. Work permission for everyone
3. Abolition of “Lagerpflicht”
4. Unlimited medical care
5. Possibility to learn the German language
6. Stop of all deportations
7. Asylum for all asylum-seekers, because every refugee is a political refugee
8. No more discrimination!
9. Abolition of “Residenzpflicht”
