In memory of Ahmed, we will not forget.
Last year a refugee died in the asylum seeker home at Kasernenstraße in Plauen. Many avoidable deficits led Ahmed’s death but only the failure to get medical assistance was accused. During the following months the numer of racist attacks on refugees in Plauen increased. Everywhere in Germany “islam critical” movements were founded, they call themselves “Pegida” and “HoGeSa”. Germany is getting more and more a cold-hearted country and the ones who suffer the most are refugees.
Rarely one week passes without attacks on refugees, torching or new racist graffitis on asylum seeker homes.
The list of racist occurrences is long and reminds us of the 1990s.
But everywhere, also in Plauen, resistance is formed by refugees.
In September 2014 there was a demonstration in Plauen, making aware of racist motivated attacks on refugees. About 70 people demonstrated together against racism.
On 21.2.2015 we will remember Ahmed Jaber !
He was a victim of political persecution and escaped from war and violence. He came to Germany. Instead of starting a better life he died.
His sad story was not an individual case: everywhere in Germany refugees have to live under dishonorable life conditions in asylum seeker accomodations without the
knowledge what is to do in case of emergencies. People with many different nationalities have to get along with each other on only a couple squaremeters.
Security firms and the administration of the asylum seeker homes are overstrained, there are language barriers and no individual attention is possible.
Our thoughts we are with Ahmed Jaber’s family and friends.
Filled with deep sorrow we will demonstrate together and remember Ahmed in dignity.
