When: Tue, 10th of March 2015, 2:30pm
Where: Am Flughafen 12b, Memmingerberg
Meeting point for the joint travel from Munich: Main station, rail track 21 [Gleis 21], 12.10pm The so called Residenzpflicht was limiting refugees’ freedom of movement to the municipality surrounding the camp. The law was withdrawn earlier this year, but past violations are still being persecuted. Usman G. had attended protest actions in Nuremberg, Berlin, Strasbourg, Brussels and Munich. He walked with the transnational protest march from Strasbourg to Brussels. Recently, he was involved in the hungerstrike at Sendlinger Tor square (Munich).
At the ‘March for Freedom’, he gave the following statement: “We have too much problems in our countries. I spend my live in problems. I come here in Germany , there are creating too much problems for us. We apply to asylum here and I’m also sick I have a big Illness. I Have Hepatitis C and there is no treatment. I waste one year in Germany and all the doctors are saying they don’t want to help me. And after they are gave me big problems. They want to deport me in Hungary , there they have my fingerprints. I wanna ask them why they do that with me? They have waste my one year. I think my older live is going with problems. Whatever you thing about us. We are also humans like you, but you don’t want to see us. So that’s why we are going to the long march for freedom.“
Despite racist laws, Usman G. has taken his right of free of movement and constantly crossed district-, regional- and national borders. His imprisonment is the last consequence of a racist, antiquated law.
