Another vicious attack on the Lampedusa info point tent in Hamburg
To the attention of: General pulic of Hamburg and all supporters of refugees and migrants, FSK Radio, taz newspaper, Refugee Council, die Linke, Verdi, Hamburger Abendblatt ….. We are inviting you to our next manifestation event at the Lampedusa info tent on September 10, 2016 at 2.00 pm. Come and show your solidarity support against the removal of our info tent at Steindamm. Let us fight against consistent racially motivated attacks and controls of our tent and fellow refugees by the police and neo-nazis. Our info tent is scheduled to be removed in October 2016. Negotiations have begun to secure its present position.
On August 28, 2016 at around 2.00 am at night a white male tried to burn our tent down. A passer-by alerted our people sleeping inside the tent. The attacker was taken away by police officers on patrol. The police have not released any information about the incident or the attacker’s identity despite our repeated requests. A similar attack happened in May 2015 in broad daylight by a neo-nazi man. The police came and took him away and collected phone numbers of our members with a promise to contact us. This contact never happened. We were not given any information about the attacker nor the incident.
For this reasons we are calling on your solidarity and support to fight against the injustice of continuing dangerous and racial attacks.
For more than three years the Senate of Hamburg has refused to grant us our political demand: Residents’ permits and work permits.
