Commemoration of Patrice Lumumba held in midst of German state-sponsored white nationalist attacks on African nationals

The commemoration of the 51st anniversary of the assassination of Patrice Lumumba in Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday, January 14, drew Africans from around Germany and Europe who were ready to complete the struggle to liberate Africa and all its resources.

The event was sponsored by the African Socialist International (ASI). Patrice Lumumba, the anti-colonial leader and legally elected prime minister of Congo, was assasinated by Western imperialists in 1960 after he demanded that the masses of African people benefit and control the resources of Congo.

Over 60 people participated in the event held at Geothe University, with African representation from London, Paris, Brussels and Frankfurt, along with several other cities in Germany.

Some Europeans also attended the event, some of whom were profoundly moved and expressed unity and solidarity with the African Revolution.

Guiding theory of African Internationalism

The event was opened with a welcome from Markus, the ASI coordinator from Belgium and emceed by Fawo Vanessa who introduced the presenters, including Jordania Lugiery from ASI Belgium and Hamado Dipama from the organization AKPM.

Penny Hess, the Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee, discussed the history of the complicit white world against African people, showing how all white people sit on a pedestal of enslavement, genocide and colonialism.

Hess explained that the future for white people is in standing in solidarity with the movement for the liberation of Africa led by African workers around the world.

A powerful keynote presentation was given by ASI Secretary General Luwezi Kinshasa, who broke down the understandings of African Internationalism, the guiding theory of the ASI, stating: “There can be no compromise between African freedom and imperialism. There can be no revolution without a revolutionary party.”

Kinshasa called for the building of an International Tribunal on Reparations for African people to be held in Africa.

He showed how African Internationalism represents the interests of the African working class as opposed to Pan-Africanism, which represents the petty bourgeoisie, a statement that sparked lively discussion during the Q & A part of the event.

Revolutionary hip hop and courageous comrades

ASI activists and members of the hip hop group, Lopango Ya Banka, performed their dynamic and popular new song “Kongo Bololo.”

The courageous Mouktar Bah was present and saluted by event participants.

German police had brutally beaten Bah as he and other comrades protested the 2007 police murder of Oury Jalloh from Sierra Leone.

The event reveals that the African Socialist International is rapidly growing among African people in Europe, as the awakening of the African working class-led movement is beginning to sweep the planet.

Touch One! Touch All!

Forward with the African Revolution!
