Solidarity Statement of the Network of The VOICE Refugee Forum in Support of the Protests and actions of the Refugees in Deggendorf and Bayern in general.
You cannot give us Justice if you do not recognize our inalienable Rights as Humans - African Refugees fight back.
In the wake of the mishandling of the refugees in Bavaria and precisely in Deggendorf, the Network of The VOICE Refugee forum in Germany is standing with the refugees and their resilient fight against their illegal deportation and for the abolition of the Dublin deportation system.
The refugees now fighting are mostly nationals from Sierra Leone living in different parts of Bavaria. Sierra Leonean Refugees in Deggendorf, Freyung, waldkirchen, Salzweg, Passau, Landshut, Regen, Pocking and Hutthurm are protesting the system that makes them illegal although they have valid papers to stay in Europe. The purposes of the Protest are against their Deportation, the Dublin deportation policies, racist treatment, bad nutritional situation and against the bad medical followed by racist treatment from doctors in Deggendorf
The Sierra Leone United Association in Germany has also called for a demonstration on the 19th of August in Munich, also demanding deportation stops and abolition of the Dublin System – for “Freedom of movement for all!".
Grounded in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of human rights 1948, which recognizes the right of persons to seek asylum from persecution in other countries, the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, adopted in 1951, is the centerpiece of international refugee protection today. Nevertheless, we should remember that during the signing of the 1951 Refugee Convention, most of Africa was under attack and colonized by the very same people calling for the protection of refugees.
Although we acknowledge these declarations and conventions, we are still saying that they were never meant for Africans. Without a fight, we have never enjoyed the rights conscribed in them. We should also recall here that Germany is also a signatory to these declarations and convention. But it’s present treatment of refugees, seizing their legal residency and repatriating them to Italy is to say the least criminal and a repudiation of international laws on protection of refugees.
We call on all activists of the refugee struggles, Refugee Organisations, networks and all the oppressed people of Bavaria and Germany to stand and support the fight of the Deggendorf refugees and all the refugees affected by these Deportations and the illegal Dublin deportation system.
We stand with the fighting Refugees and declare our unequivocal solidarity with their demands.
A state that can no longer respect its constitution and laws and does not recognize or provide the basic and international human rights for its denizen is a failed state.
Deportation is criminal, a form of colonial injustice and we will fight it.
