Undocumented migrant workers are the unrecognized hands that contribute a lot to the economies of the countries they work in and countries where they come from. Yet, they are some of the most exploited, abused and repressed among the migrants.

African killed by racist German police?

DESSAU, Germany, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A German court has acquitted two police officers in the mysterious death of an asylum applicant from Africa, sparking tumultuous protests in the courtroom.

The court in Dessau in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt acquitted one of the officers of negligent manslaughter and the other of bodily harm in connection with the Jan. 7, 2005, death of 23-year-old Oury Jalloh from Sierra Leone.

Wenn Polizisten zu Tätern werden

Im Februar 2005, einen Monat nach dem Feuertod des Asylbewerbers Oury Jalloh in Polizeigewahrsam, treffen sich in Halle rund 20 Führungskräfte der Polizei zu einer Lagebesprechung. Polizeioberrat Reinhard S. sagt dabei: "Schwarze brennen eben mal länger." Niemand stört sich daran, außer einem Kollegen, der den Vorfall meldet. Der Mann wird anschließend wochenlang gemobbt, bis er entnervt seine Versetzung beantragt. Die Ermittlungen gegen S. werden eingestellt - er kommt mit einem Verweis davon.

Wir werden den Kampf nicht aufgeben, bis unsere Forderungen erfüllt sind. Aus diesem Anlass ruft die Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh alle auf, mit uns gegen rassistische Polizeigewalt und gegen Scheinprozesse, durch die Morde vertuscht werden, auch am 7. Januar 2009 ab 13 Uhr in Dessau zu demonstrieren.
