Invitatation to the Caravan Nationwide
January 30 to February 1, 2009 in Hamburg
Dear Activists of the CARAVAN,
Dear friends of the network,
We have scheduled an open meeting at the beginning of the next nation-wide CARAVAN meeting that takes place from January 30 to February 1, 2009 in Hamburg. It is our aim to inform about actual campaigns and local struggles and to develop a stronger support.
During the action conference for the tenth anniversary of the CARAVAN in October last year in Weimar two main aspects of our work have been defined as the central points in the CARAVAN struggle against the German deportation system:
1.Our network does not make any compromise in its political positions with the racist system. Deportations are state organized crime. The special laws and special treatments characterize the white apartheid system in Germany.
2.Direct, immediate and concrete intervention is of highest priority for our network. Without this practical intervention our political position would be a farce. The continuous, consequent, and practical support of refugee struggles and the resistance against mistreatment and humiliation
is therefore of utmost importance.
Ten years ago we began with our common struggle against deportation, Residenzpflicht (Residence Obligation Apartheid Law), Lager, racist police controls and for our life and dignity. Ten years later we fight along the same line.
Today the refugees of Remscheid have started with their struggles and call for solidarity (see below).
Knowing that a lot of work in the campaigns is shared among a few shoulders the process of expansion and strengthening of the campaign work has to be intensified.
The nation wide meeting in Hamburg offers space and time to include more people in the grass root movement of the CARAVAN network and in the daily campaigns.
We invite you to take part in our meeting in January 30 and 31. The program is as follows.
Friday evening at 7pm first plenary session:
# Presentation, political praxis and positioning of the CARAVAN network
# and presentation of actual campaigns
# common discussion
